Abstract(s)
A dislexia é uma perturbação da aprendizagem específica com base na leitura, que permanece ao longo da vida, mas que pode ser detetada desde logo, nos primeiros anos escolares. Com a avaliação e intervenção adequadas, as crianças afetadas tendem a obter maiores benefícios, desde que o problema seja identificado cedo. Com efeito, procura-se entender se, no caso dos adultos com esta perturbação, existem diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre os dois grupos (portadores e não portadores de PAE-DL) relativamente aos sintomas psicopatológicos (de ansiedade e depressão) e à perceção de suporte social. Neste estudo participaram 265 sujeitos adultos, entre os quais 204 são mulheres e 61 homens, sendo que 24 são diagnosticados com PAE-DL, 97 com ansiedade e 60 com sintomatologia depressiva. Os resultados não revelam diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre os grupos (portadores e não portadores de PAE-DL).

With proper assessment and intervention, affected children tend to gain greater benefits, as long as the problem is identified early. Indeed, we try to understand whether, in the case of adults with this disorder, there are statistically significant differences between the two groups (carriers and noncarriers of PAE-DL) for the psychopathological symptoms (anxiety and depression) and the perception of social support.
