Abstract(s)
The final traineeship period, included in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Master’s degree Study Plan from Beira Interior University, allowed developing the development of technical, clinical and ethical skills required for practicing the profession of pharmacy. This paper is divided into two components, including: the master's research project entitled "Study of Chemical extracts of leaves of Betula Celtiberian Rothm. & Vasc.” and the traineeship in Communitarian Pharmacy. Regarding the research project master, the chemical study of Betula celtiberica extracts obtained by different extraction methods, based mainly on the determination of their antioxidant activity, quantification of total phenols and flavonoids, using colorimetric methods. Subsequently the extracts were analyzed by HPLC-DAD for the identification of compounds present in the plant. With the results obtained it was concluded that birch has a high antioxidant capacity as some extracts, mainly the extract obtained more accurately by increasing the solvent polarity methanol present AAI> 2. For the analysis of chromatograms obtained by HPLC-DAD were identified two compounds, present in all the extracts under study: ellagic acid and tannic acid. Both compounds identified, attest to the constitution of the plant and its capacity for action. The Communitarian Pharmacy traineeship was held at Nuno Álvares Pharmacy, between February 4th and June 20th of 2013, under the supervision of Dr. Jorge Augusto and the entire pharmacy’s team. This report aims to describe the work in a Communitarian Pharmacy and the multiple tasks and responsibilities that are sent to the Pharmacist in professional context.
