As doenças reumáticas são um importante problema social e económico, cujo impacto tem vindo a crescer, sendo essencial compreender e acompanhar o impacto que estas acarretam na qualidade de vida do doente.
A presente investigação teve como objetivo analisar a relação entre o ajustamento conjugal e o ajustamento psicológico em doentes reumáticos. Participaram neste estudo 52 sujeitos, com diagnóstico de doença reumática, com idades entre os 25 e 77 anos. Os instrumentos utilizados foram: a Escala de Ajustamento Mútuo (Lourenço e relvas, 2003) e o Inventário de Sintomas Psicopatológicos (Canavarro, 1999).
Os resultados sugerem a existência de uma associação significativa entre as dimensões do ajustamento conjugal e as dimensões de sintomatologia psicopatológica, nomeadamente ansiedade e depressão. Não se verificaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas para as variáveis sexo, idade, ter outra doença crónica e o acompanhamento psicológico, e a perceçao de ajustamento mútuo global. Os resultados serão discutidos com base na literatura sobre a área.
Rheumatic diseases are na important social and econoomic problem, whose impact has been growing, being essential to understand and monito the impact that these entail on the patient´s quality of life. The present research aimed to analyse the relationship between the marital adjustment and psycological adjustment in rheumatic patient. Participted in this study 52 subjects, with diagnosis of rheumatic disease, aged 25 and 77 years. The instruments used were: the mutual adjustment scale (Lourenço e relvas, 2003) and the inventory of psychopathological symptoms (Canavarro, 1999). The results suggest the existence of a significant association between the dimensions of the marital adjustment and the dimensions of psychopathological symptoms, including anxiety and depression. There were no statistically significant differences for the variavles sex, age, have another chronic disease and psychological follow-up, and the perception of mutual global adjustment. The results are discussed on the basis of the literature on the area.
