Abstract(s)
A presente dissertação busca,
A principal conclusão a
Journalism is a form of public communication in states where democracy prevails, and proximity journalism designates the strong relationship that exists between the community and journalism. As elements of a society, every day we expect to have access to new information, but more important than being new, is the impact it will have on our lives. The closer they are, the better, since the concern when it comes to knowing what happens to our neighbors, is not the same we have as to know what happens in other countries. The Jornal do Fundão newspaper, which is a regional one, since its foundation, has been working having the people in view, establishing itself as an independent newspaper that aims to defend just causes, thus helping in the development and in solving citizens' problems in the Beira Interior region. This dissertation seeks, precisely, to study the way in which the inhabitants of the city of Fundão, its journalists and its readers look at the newspaper. With this objective in mind, we analyzed a sample of the newspaper's “Letters from Readers” and conducted interviews with political leaders and inhabitants of the city of Fundão, and journalists from Jornal do Fundão, The main conclusion we reached is that the population of Fundão sees their newspaper as a defender of the public interest and the most credible source of news about what happens in the region.
