Abstract(s)
Introduction: The quality of services provided by organizations is directly related with the professionals’ satisfaction being part of it. There is a big concern about quality of render services to the population and patient satisfaction grade. However, fewer attentions is given to workers’ satisfaction and their life quality, although it is currently known that working well being influences the work effectivety. Objectives: To assess the perceived professional quality of life (PQL) of “Centro Hospitalar da Cova da Beira (CHCB)” physicians; to understand which factors influence in PQL variability; to understand the current situation as a font of information about global perceived PQL; to propose strategies to improve physicians quality of life. Material and Methods: A questionnaire divided in two parts was applied, the first part with socio-demographic and working variables and the second corresponding to Professional Perceived Quality of Life Questionnaire (PQL-35) that consists of 35 questions and evaluate three dimensions: work support, workload and intrinsic motivation. For the statistic’s analysis, SPSS program was used. Results: Global PQL mean was 6.20. In respect to the three global dimensions, in a decreasing way of punctuations, we have intrinsic motivation (7.83), work support (5.54) and workload (5.47). The three answers with higher mean were “My job is important to others life’s” (8.91 CI of 95% of 8.62-9.20), “I feel proud of my job” (8.47 CI of 95% of 8.07-8.87) and “I am qualified to do my actual job” (8.36 CI of 95% of 7.98-8.74) and the three answers with lower mean were “Promotion possibility” (3.02 CI of 95% of 2.38-3.66), “I have conflicts with other people of my job” (3.15 CI of 95% of 2.44-3.85) and “Physic discomfort in my job” (3.89 CI of 95% of 3.12-4.66). Discussion: We found no significant differences in relation to sex, service, and department but some diversities were found related to age, service time, presence of leadership charge and doing or not urgencies. The global quality of life of CHCB physicians perceived is “really good”. Besides workload, physicians feel motivation and support of the colleagues to face diary adversities.
