Abstract(s)
trabalho administrativo e treino pessoal. As variáveis analisadas foram a perceção de
fadiga, as horas de trabalho total realizadas, as horas de treino personalizado, as horas
de aulas de grupo, as horas de trabalho administrativo, as horas de treino pessoal, as
horas de orientações iniciais, as horas de trabalho realizadas fora do clube e tipo de
trabalho realizado fora do clube.
As part of the Internship curricular unit, integrated in the 2nd year of the Master's Degree in Sport Sciences, the internship was carried out at Holmes Place Palácio SottoMayor (HPPSM), in Lisbon. The main objective was to develop core professional skills in the field of Exercise and Health, by understanding the daily functioning of a large-scale fitness club. Various tasks were undertaken during this period, including group class instruction, exercise programming, and technical discussions on diverse topics. All tasks were closely supervised by the internship tutor, the Group Exercise Leader, and the Fitness Manager, whose support was essential to the successful completion of the internship. In parallel, a research project was conducted aiming to monitor perceived fatigue responses among fitness instructors working in a gym setting, and to explore the relationship between fatigue perception and the number of working hours across various tasks, including personal training, group classes, administrative work, and personal workouts. The variables analysed were: perceived fatigue, total working hours, hours of personal training, hours of group classes, hours of administrative work, personal workout hours, hours spent on initial consultations, hours of work performed outside the club, and the type of work carried out externally. The study included 12 group fitness instructors, aged between 23 and 41 years. The results showed a strong and positive correlation between perceived fatigue and the total number of working hours. It can be concluded that higher workloads are associated with increased levels of perceived fatigue among fitness professionals.
