Abstract(s)
A literatura demonstra
recomendações e regulamentação sob as quais assentam idealmente o desenvolvimento
Numa primeira
amostra estudada, 47% contêm 15 a 20 ingredientes listados no rótulo (menor
This present dissertation, carried out within the scope of the traineeship course of the Integrated Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences, is divided into three Chapters which correspond to the Research, the Hospital Pharmacy and the Community Pharmacy experiences. The first chapter addresses the theme - Moisturizing cosmetics for babies: composition characterization and critical analysis in light of current recommendations. The literature shows the controversial development of skin in the 0-3 year age group; as well as the recommendations and regulations on which the development of moisturizing formulations for babies is ideally based. It is in this context that some of the existing myths are debunked, namely with regard to preservatives. As a first goal a literature search was performed to identify the specific criteria related to the use of ingredients, such as fragrances, extracts and preservatives, as well as recommendations and quantitative and qualitative regulations. Minimalist formulas, with no fragrance and carefully selected preservatives are the main recommendations for such product. Then 19 baby moisturizing products marketed in community pharmacies were studied, of which 47% are labelled with15 to 20ingredients (smallest number), 53% (n=10) claim the existence of a considerable percentage (unless 89%) of ingredients of natural origin in its composition, 74% (n=14) contained fragrance. With the analysis of the functions of the ingredients, it was also found the use of preservatives and boosters, as well as common ingredients such as glycerin and beeswax. Furthermore, each formulation had a characteristic natural extract. For all products, the claims were described and with them the verification of the existence of clinical studies after its development, thus not surpassing the ethical limitations of carrying out studies in babies. Thus, it was found that the formulations presented tend to find a viable balance between consumer preferences and safety standards and recommendations. The second Chapter addresses the experience of curricular internship in Hospital Pharmacy at the University Hospital Center of Cova da Beira, under the supervision of Dr. Maria Olímpia Fonseca. This internship allowed contact and learning in the different sectors of Hospital Pharmacy. The third Chapter addresses the experience of curricular internship in Community Pharmacy at Farmácia Ostende. This internship allowed the contact and learning of the different tasks and the role of the Pharmacist in Community Pharmacy.
