Abstract(s)
direitos humanos (Rose, 2017; Shaw, 2012).
humanos?
The present research is a product of a six-month analysis of news articles from the regional newspaper Diário de Coimbra that contain human rights journalism content (Rose, 2017; Shaw, 2012). The premise of this research is based on the following question: Should the journalistic approach applied to the production of news content in general be the same as in the production of human rights content? This academic research aims to analyze human rights journalism in the context of proximity journalism, by taking into account the specific structures and models of this type of journalistic production (Jeronimo, 2015; Camponez, 2002) and, from the definition of human rights journalism, we propose a set of up-to-date news values. From the analysis, between October 2020 and March 2021, we highlight the relevance that this publication will have to human rights journalism, on one hand, and some unfamiliarity of journalism professionals about the criteria of this journalistic approach, on the other. Still, this exploratory study allows us to propose the application of this approach as a new journalistic genre, especially in the proximity context.
