Abstract(s)
Promoting workplace safety is fundamental, considering the significant human and economic costs of workplace accidents. The purpose of this report is the analysis and prevention of work accidents at COFICAB Portugal, a company manufacturing wires and cables for the automotive industry, aiming to contribute to the definition of strategies and improvement actions for the company. During this internship, information on the number of workp accidents in the company over the last three years was collected, using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) methodology for risk assessment of accidents. This process involved identifying the most recurrent accidents and evaluating the severity, probability, and detection indices, culminating in the calculation of the risk priority number (RPN). The implementation of the FMEA tool allowed for the identification of recurrent accidents and the proposal of solutions to eliminate them. The study revealed that 53% of the 83 accidents analyzed between 2021 and 2023 had an RPN above 100, indicating an unacceptable risk of priority 2, with no priority 1 risk (RPN above 480). This data highlights the urgent need for effective prevention and control measures. In this work, improvement actions were also proposed, which are expected to serve as guidance and be implemented to reduce or even eliminate risks and promote a safer and healthier working environment for COFICAB employees.
