Abstract(s)
The present study aimed to analyze the relationship between the type of Passion regarding the consumption of illicit psychoactive substances and the emotional regulation strategies of higher education students. The sample consisted of 137 university students who were consumers of illicit psychoactive substances, aged between 18 and 45 years old. Data collection involved the distribution of a questionnaire and collaboration with a set of Commissions for the Dissuasion of Drug Addiction in the country. A Sociodemographic Questionnaire was administered, as well as the Portuguese versions of the Behavioral Emotional Regulation Questionnaire and the Passion Scale. The results did not align with existing literature, as there was no significant impact of the type of Passion on Emotional Regulation. However, although not significant, they indicate a tendency: female students, unlike male students, tend to adopt adaptive ER strategies; Master's students tend to present adaptive strategies while doctoral students tend to present maladaptive ER strategies; finally, students who have been intercepted by law enforcement due to the consumption or possession for consumption of illicit psychoactive substances, at least once, tend to present maladaptive ER strategies.
