Abstract(s)
In the early 19th century, with the growing railway network construction for the accession of the masses to the train, the need arises for building support infrastructures, originating at railway stations, considered the cathedrals of technology. The growth and extension of railways led to the progress wherever the train went, which reached the city of Amarante on 20 March 1909. The Tamega line is a narrow-track railway in the North of Portugal, which makes the connection between Livração (on Douro line) and the Arco de Baúlhe station, with a total length of 51.733 kilometres. Although opened in 1909, was completed on your all at the 15 January 1949, wich has been completely closed in 2009. The decreased use of trains as the main means of transport and the lack of attractiveness on your competitiveness, reflected in the successive closure, abandonment of lines and some small stations that later gave way to degradation. In this dissertation is proposed the rehab of na inactive railway section between Amarante-Livração, with 12.5 kilometres extension, in a perspective of sustainability and to boost the tourism. The municipality of Amarante has submitted a proposal to increase city and import the tourism, with the construction of a minibus. With this, comes the idea of recovering the old train station of Amarante for tourist accommodation, preserving almost all the features of the building, as well as the Fregim-A railway station, located near Amarante water park, a place full of interest, where we idealise a drinking establishment and, finally, the Vila Caiz railway station, which already has a small part in use as sports headquarters, and we propose the same use. In sum, we want, in particular, the articulation of the values of the past with the constant changes of the presente taking into account the various elements.
