Abstract(s)
A presente dissertação tem como principal objetivo analisar de que forma a televisão nacional se
pôde adaptar para continuar a produzir conteúdos televisivos, numa fase em que os normais
procedimentos de trabalho enfrentaram bloqueios diversos. Em causa está a disseminação da
pandemia pela COVID-19 no Mundo, em específico na sua primeira vaga de maiores infeções. O
objetivo centra-se na observação aos métodos desenvolvidos pelos três canais generalistas em
Portugal (RTP, SIC e TVI), de acordo com as soluções individuais apontadas por cada um, numa
total reorganização do formato mediático, redesenhado em sucessivas adaptações suportadas
pelo digital, numa fase em que, simultaneamente, se denotavam aumentos significativos do
consumo televisivo.
Com a televisão a vivenciar atualmente uma terceira fase de evolução do meio, a investigação
estrutura-se em duas partes de análise. A primeira parte relata a evolução do contexto mediático
da TV, desde a ‘Paleo-Televisão’, até à chegada à ‘Hiper-Televisão’, e a sua evolução para o digital.
A segunda parte do trabalho faz uma vasta observação indireta às ações desempenhadas pelas
emissoras televisivas já referidas, no sentido de elucidação das ações desempenhadas, em
concreto as sucessivas alterações no campo da produção e apresentação em ecrã. Com essa
observação, parte-se também para um levantamento mais completo dos conteúdos programáticos
criados e transmitidos durante o período em análise, numa produção mais dependente das
ferramentas digitais, com complemento pelas entrevistas a profissionais da área televisiva.
As duas partes estão focadas no estudo dos conceitos que ligam o desenvolvimento do fenómeno
televisivo aos atuais formatos assentes no predomínio tecnológico e digital, assim como na
consecutiva transmediação e adaptação a diferentes noções estéticas de apresentação na TV.
Aponta-se ainda que a evolução da TV por diferentes fases está em consonância com a
periodicidade histórica da contemporaneidade, que trouxe profundas alterações aos
comportamentos sociais, patenteadas no e pelo crescimento do setor mediático.
As ideias concluídas tornaram possível compreender que a indústria televisiva em Portugal estava
preparada para uma rápida modificação dos moldes mais tradicionais de produção para TV,
mesmo que apanhada de surpresa. Os resultados obtidos fazem vislumbrar uma atitude
desempenhada a curto-prazo, estando a televisão ainda muito interligada a todos os modos mais
tradicionais que continuam a pautar o seu trajeto.
The core objective of this dissertation is to analyze how the Portuguese national television has adapted itself during the global COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, we aim to understand how the previous standard working procedures were modified, but also, how the three national generalist channels (RTP, SIC and TVI) had to reinvent themselves to create novel content methods and working procedures. In an era where the digital is already a reality, leastwise, this pandemic had the virtue to accelerate it in a total unexpected way. The television is currently experiencing its third evolution, therefore, this dissertation is mainly structured and focused in two main analysis parts. Firstly, the evolution of the media context since the ‘Network Era’ until the still in development, the ‘Post-Network Era’, and the continuous relation with digital platforms. Secondly, a deep observation to the aforementioned broadcasters to understand their reactions, how their content was affected, modified and presented to the viewers. The former part, is deeply focused not only in the understanding of how the television evolved during in between the eras but also on how the digitalization had and still has a great impact in the current one. The later part, along with the deep observation we also present a more complete survey to the created and transmitted contents during the analyzed period. This survey is supported by checking current tools used by the broadcasters and by gathering direct feedback from professionals in the television field. Both parts are interconnected since they are focused in the study of the concepts that link the development of the television phenomenon to the current formats based on technological and digital predominance. The previous analysis and initial conclusions lead us to understand that in one hand, the Portuguese television and professionals were prepared for a totally non expected modification of the traditional molds of TV production. However, on the other hand, the survey results demonstrate that the television is still very much interconnected to its traditional ways of operation.
