This dissertation was written with a view to obtaining a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and is an integral part of the Internship Curricular Unit. It is divided into three chapters: Chapter I refers to the Research component, Chapter II refers to the internship report in Hospital Pharmacy and Chapter III refers to the internship report in Community Pharmacy. Chapter I consists of a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine whether acute ingestion of paracetamol has the capacity to improve physical performance in healthy individuals who are athletes or regular practitioners of different sports. The articles were searched in the Pubmed and Isi Web of Knowledge databases and the statistical analysis was carried out using the R project software. Thirteen articles were included which met the pre-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria and 9 different variables were analyzed: time to perform the task in question, mean power output, body temperature, heart rate, pain perception, rate of perceived exertion, blood lactate, maximum oxygen consumption and total work. The results obtained suggested that paracetamol provided a small but statistically significant improvement in the time taken to perform the physical task (average reduction of 0.50 seconds, 95% confidence interval = [-0.96; -0.04]). However, there were no statistically significant effects on the other variables. As for the sport, the results suggest that the effect of paracetamol administration may be more positive in activities that require continuous and cyclical efforts, such as cycling. In short, the results obtained in this study do not suggest that paracetamol significantly increased the physical performance of the participants in question. Chapter II reports on the experience and knowledge acquired during my internship at the Cova da Beira Local Health Unit from September 30 to November 22, 2024, under the guidance of the Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Dr. Olímpia Fonseca. During my eightweek internship at the Hospital Pharmacy,I had the opportunity to get to know the different areas in which pharmacists work and understand the importance of their role in patient well-being. Chapter III refers to the curricular internship report developed at Farmácia Pedroso, located in Covilhã, between November 25, 2024 and February 14, 2025, under the supervision of Dr. João Vale. It describes the activities carried out and the skills acquired during this period, highlighting the crucial mission of the pharmacist for society, with special emphasis on the ageing population.
