Enquanto obra de profunda introspecção pessoal, o Leal Conselheiro nasce para dar voz às reflexões de D. Duarte sobre os problemas concretos da vida humana e do homem português. Na projecção social da sua mensagem reside um intento pedagógico de dimensão nacional, interveniente na identidade moral e cultural portuguesa, que o autor pretende orientado por valores intemporais de natureza cristã. Situada na época arcaica da língua, a obra será também um testemunho de mudanças e inovações em curso, essencialmente por se tratar de um momento de transição e de emancipação linguística, que necessariamente teve de lidar com a convivência entre formas antigas e novas. Ao longo deste trabalho, estaremos particularmente atentos aos verbos Ser, Estar, Haver e Ter e à proximidade semântica e sintáctica que nos permite um estudo relacional e binómico entre Ser/Estar e Haver/Ter. Observaremos a sua evolução, com vista a explorar a partilha de significações que os aproxima, os traços que lhes são comuns, mas também os contextos que os particularizam e os remetem para a sua individualidade. Numa fase final, avançaremos para a recolha dos dados do corpus e para o seu tratamento quantitativo e estatístico. Para tal, definiremos os traços comportamentais a que estão sujeitas as variáveis em estudo, do mesmo modo que as enquadraremos dentro de um conjunto de critérios de argumentação sintáctico-semântica. A título conclusivo, e em função dos resultados obtidos, apontaremos para o intervalo entre 1428 e 1430 para situar a redacção do Leal Conselheiro. Enquadrada nos limites iniciais do período arcaico médio, a obra evidencia, maioritariamente, formas em variação e não mudanças inteiramente consumadas.
Being a text of profound personal introspection, the Leal Conselheiro was born to give voice to D. Duarte´s meditations on the real problems of human life and Portuguese people. His message was one of social projection and had a pedagogical purpose of national dimension, though it ment to cause an effect on the Portuguese moral and cultural identity that he whishes to see guided by timeless principles of Christian nature. Born in the Middle Age, the book will also be a testemony of change and inovation in place, specialy because this is a moment of linguistic transition and emancipation in which new and old forms need to coexist. Along this essay we’ll be particularly focus on the verbs Ser, Estar, Haver and Ter, observing their semantics and syntactic proximity, performing a study that involves the intrinsic relation between Ser/Estar and Haver/Ter. We’ll analyse their evolution in order to explore the common traces and meanings, but also the contexts that mark their individuality. Finally, we move towards the research provided by our corpus and attain to its quantitative and statistic treatment. We´ll define the behavioral traces that involve the variables on study and we´ll support the results on a specific group of syntactic and semantics criteria. Conclusively, according to the results, we’ll point the years between 1428 and 1430 to mark the birth of the manuscript. Placed on the beginning of the middle archaique period, the text reveals mostly cases of variation of forms, not necessarily the total consumation of change.
