Abstract(s)
síntese abrangente do conhecimento existente, a tese pretende orientar a prática
This thesis is a literature review that examines the effectiveness of hygiene and dietary measures as a first line of treatment for children. Based on scientific evidence and normative guidelines published between 2015 and 2024, as well as guidelines from the Directorate-General for Health, the work reviews, compiles and systematises current knowledge on promoting child health through integrated interventions. The review covers several interrelated areas, including nutritional care, personal and environmental hygiene, oral health, regulating sleep habits, regular physical activity and managing screen time, without neglecting the psychosocial and environmental aspects that influence children's development. The methodology adopted consisted of reviewing, compiling and critically analysing the literature of international studies and guidelines, and systematising the information to identify preventive strategies identified in the literature for reducing the incidence of chronic pathologies such as obesity, diabetes, oral diseases and emotional disorders. The work emphasises the importance of a multidisciplinary approach and the integration of public policies for the effective implementation of hygiene and dietary measures, proposing an innovative preventive paradigm that aims to improve quality of life from the earliest years of life. By providing a comprehensive synthesis of existing knowledge, the thesis aims to guide clinical practice, highlighting the importance of investing in prevention to promote the integral and sustainable development of future generations.
