Abstract(s)
The Sun has a similar cost anywhere in the planet, satisfying a wide number of environmental needs. At the beginning of last decade of the twentieth century the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) revealed is first report over human development, showing the deep inequalities in witch the present development models are based: the scarcely fulfill of the basic needs for many, in opposition to the situations of great wealth for few, asking us about the real possibilities of how to built local and globally a more concerned, equitable and just human society, therefore a more sustainable one. In this context an aim for political, economical, ecological and ethical reflections, shall be a prime concern for the advance of a more sustainable development, based in a clear, social and educational effort, to contribute for the planning of sustainable and efficient practices in how to use the planet. Having in mind the human environment, our actions over the ecosystem suggest our subordination and connection to nature, in order to benefit of it’s advantages, applying the correct procedures to facilitate sustainable changes, such as: passive solar energy, hence the analysis of passive solar architecture through history, as a main agent for sustainability and resources management. To reduce the environmental impact of buildings, establishing strategies such as: reutilizing, recycling, reducing energy consumption along its entire life cycle, learning the good architectural and building practices, the different types of energy and how to quantify cost, the harvesting processes, heating/cooling and ventilation of buildings, as well as clean building technologies. All this are essential tolls for the architect’s good practice, during the design phase. This collection is our contribution to improve the quality of live under an efficient and responsible way to manage the available local resources concerning the practice of architecture.
