Abstract(s)
No estudo, participaram 398 jovens
The number of cases of intimate partner violence has been increasing, augmenting the need to research this issue, in particular its precedence. The main objective of this study is to understand how university students’ appraisal of interparental conflict can predict beliefs favorable to the use of violence in intimate partner violence. This study was composed by 398 university students between the ages of 18 and 25 (M=20.39, DP=1.85), from three institutions from the center of the country, 59% of which are women and 41% men. To obtain the information needed the participants answered a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Children’s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale and the Escala de Crenças sobre Violência Conjugal. The results show that the most prevalent belief is the belief that violence can be justified due to external causes and that the appraisal of interparental conflict can predict the development of beliefs about intimate partner violence.
