Abstract(s)
This dissertation aims to analyze the participants' perceptions of the ICEUBI2024 Congress, organized by the University of Beira Interior (UBI), in order to identify the main challenges faced and the strategies adopted in the management of the event. The study falls within the scope of organizational communication and public relations, considering academic events as instruments of institutional visibility, image enhancement, and stakeholder engagement. The research followed a case study approach and involved the application of a questionnaire to event participants, combining closed-ended Likert-scale questions with exploratory open-ended questions. Quantitative data were processed using SPSS software, including frequency analysis, means, medians, standard deviations, minimum and maximum values, and internal consistency assessment through Cronbach’s Alpha. Open-ended responses were analyzed qualitatively, offering deeper insights into participants’ perceptions. The results show an overall positive perception of the ICEUBI2024 Congress, with particular emphasis on the rigor of planning, the effectiveness of team coordination, and the quality of internal communication. Areas for improvement were also identified, such as signage and the scheduling of parallel sessions. The convergence between quantitative and qualitative data reinforces the value attributed to the academic and institutional experience provided by the event. This study contributes to a better understanding of the role of events in the university context, highlighting the importance of participants’ perceptions in the assessment of organizational practices. The main limitations concern the focus on a single case and the cross-sectional nature of the data. Future research is encouraged to carry out comparative studies between institutions and to explore emerging dimensions such as accessibility, sustainability, and digitalization in academic event management.
