Abstract(s)
Essential oils arouse increasing interest of the scientific community for its characteristics. They are increasingly used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, among others. In this work, a study was made of essential oils of orange and lemon. The extraction of these oils was done through the process of hydrodistillation in Clevenger apparatus, which resulted in an acceptable income. The essential oils were characterized by gas chromatography mass spectroscopy on pooled. We identified ten components in the essential oils of orange and lemon, where the limonene is the major component. It was also evaluated the activity viewpoint, from which the specific rotation was calculated and compared with the tabulated were concordant for the essential oil of orange, but were not for the essential oil of lemon.
