Abstract(s)
Dessa forma, a presente dissertação sublinha a recuperação, reabilitação,
Partindo destes princípios, a dissertação
The theme of rehabilitation is increasingly in the life of an architect of today. When we look at the Portuguese architectural heritage, we come across a panorama of public and private buildings in a state of high degradation. Due to this panorama the architect of the present time, sees itself in the obligation of trying to maintain and rehabilitate the patrimony. In this context, among the public buildings that we find the old Portuguese primary schools, built by the Estado Novo, which they called Teaching Posts. We observe and study the evolution of the Teaching Posts since creation, apogee, decline and how they are nowadays in order to understand why some of the adaptations made to schools. The adaptation of the teaching posts is an important factor, since the main idea was teaching, but nowadays we find adaptations such as parish councils, living spaces and hotels, but we rarely observe adaptations for housing. The present dissertation underlines the recovery, rehabilitation, reuse and adaptation as an alternative way to shape the space that was once a primary school. Based on these principles, the dissertation justifies the process of adaptation of the housing in the building of the former Primary School of Sete Fontes, in the parish of Beiral do Lima, in the municipality of Ponte de Lima.
