Abstract(s)
O objetivo desta dissertação é relacionar o design automóvel com a evolução tecnológica ao longo
da sua história, focando-se nos marcos mais importantes dessa interdependência, assim como
abordar os contributos dos designers e engenheiros que se revelaram fundamentais para uma
evolução significativa em ambas as vertentes. Sendo fundamental compreender como tudo
começou e qual foi o rumo tomado por esta evolução até o presente, assim como ensaiar uma
previsão plausível para o que irá acontecer no futuro do mundo automóvel e do design que lhe
está associado. Para justificar as conclusões, serão apresentados vários mapeamentos históricos
e tabelas relativas à evolução de várias temáticas como sejam: a evolução da potência; evolução
dos coeficientes aerodinâmicos; mapeamentos dos estilos de carroçarias; e a evolução da
segurança e dos marcos fundamentais da evolução da tecnologia automóvel.
The objective of this dissertation is to relate automobile design with technological evolution throughout its history, focusing on the most important milestones of this interdependence, as well as addressing the contributions of designers and engineers who proved to be fundamental for significant evolution in both aspects. It is essential to understand how it all began and what direction this evolution has taken to the present, as well as rehearsing a plausible prediction for what will happen in the future of the automotive world and the design associated with it. To justify the conclusions, several historical mappings and tables will be presented relating to the evolution of various themes, such as: the evolution of power; evolution of aerodynamic coefficients; mapping of body styles; and the evolution of safety and key milestones in the evolution of automotive technology.
