Abstract(s)
This dissertation seeks to conceptualize theoretically the hypothesis of a fifth Jüngerian figure that represents, in broad strokes, the socio-political scenario of the early twenty-first century. Taking the Jüngerian figures — the Unknown Soldier, the Worker, the Outcast and the Anarch — as our starting point, we add the Prisoner as an archetypal representation of our time. In this sense, we focus, first of all, on the genesis and evolution of the Jüngerian figures, taking into account the historical and sociopolitical scenario in which each one os them is framed and what each one illustrates as the total sum of its parts. To its understanding corresponds, firstly, an interpretative and exploratory overview of Jünger's original aesthetics and, consequently, the analysis in chronological order of each Jüngerian figure, so that we may thus build the theoretical edifice of the Prisoner through relevant problematics and concepts that expose and translate the socio-political scenario of our century and branch out the Prisoner into four essential types - panoptic, media, labour and ideology. This typology, although quadripartite, does not obey to a specific order or arbitrariness, but to a deep interconnection and interaction that prove the prison reality of our days.
