dc.description.abstract	Na cidade da Covilhã, são evidentes os traços das suas várias fases de ocupação, entre elas e, com maior destaque, um vasto património industrial. É com base nas transformações urbanísticas que a cidade sofreu, que se percebe de que forma esta evoluiu e se modificou ao longo do tempo e como se foi adaptando a novas realidades económicas, sociais e urbanas. A paisagem construída da cidade é marcada pela presença de inúmeras estruturas urbanísticas que são pergaminhos de história, com localizações privilegiadas são fatores fundamentais na arquitetura da cidade e influenciam diretamente a forma como o transeunte se desloca e relaciona com ela. A maioria dos complexos industriais encontra-se devoluto ou em ruína, contudo, tem-se assistido nos últimos anos a uma crescente preocupação em revitalizar, reabilitar e renovar áreas que foram menosprezadas na cidade. A arquitetura é um dos elementos chave destas transformações urbanísticas e sociais. Neste sentido, o estudo aborda a cidade da Covilhã e visa analisar a sua evolução urbana desde a era dos lanifícios até à situação atual. Deste modo, apresenta-se nesta dissertação um caso de estudo, com vista à reabilitação arquitetónica e urbana de um bairro operário que permanece em estado de abandono e degradação na cidade da Covilhã. Atualmente existe uma preocupação crescente em que o diálogo entre o espaço físico e o espaço social seja coerente, de modo a promover a integração social. Assim procura-se dar um novo olhar ao Bairro da Alegria fazendo dele um lugar coeso de práticas sociais integrando-o na malha urbana da cidade.	por
dc.description.abstract	Within Covilhã there are clear traces of its several phases of occupation, among them and with greater highlight a vast industrial heritage. It is perceivable based on the urban transformations suffered by the city the way it has evolved and changed throughout time and how it has adapted to new social, economic and urban realities. The various urbanistic structures, by which the city’s landscape is characterized, are authentic history books. Their privileged locations are fundamental factors in the city’s architecture and they influence directly the way the passerby shifts through the city and relates to it. Most of the Industrial complexes are brownfields or found in ruins, however lately there is growing the worry to revitalize , rehabilitate and renew areas there have been undermined. The architecture is one of the key elements of the needed urban and social transformation. Therefore this report addresses the city and its urban evolution since the age of lanificios until the current state. Consequently, this dissertation presents a case study with sight on the architectural and urban rehabilitation of an abandoned industrial neighborhood in the city. The need felt today for a more coherent dialogue between the social and physical space so to promote social integration is rising. The goal is to give a new and fresher look to Bairro da Alegria, making it useful, attractive and filled with life like it once was.	eng
