Abstract(s)
Health status, one of the most important dimensions of life’s quality, is the visible and sensed result of the interaction of a few factors experienced collectively and individually. At this individual level, tolerance and complete acceptance of oneself, as components of self-esteem, are two of the most important variables for good mental health. Without them, life quality can’t exist. That self-esteem allows each one to appreciate, in the morning when facing the mirror, a positive reflected image. The need of one’s appreciation leads, every day, a greater number of people to find in medicine, as art and science, the necessary support to recover the original features that time indelibly has deleted. Thus, Aesthetic Medicine, and especially Facial Aesthetic Medicine, gains increasing weight in the contemporary society. An approach to the cosmetic dermatology, complemented with or opposed to the surgical approach, constitutes the essence of the present work, sustained with the necessary literature review and an eventual case study of obvious relevance.
