Abstract(s)
Today, despite the economic growth in the so-called developing countries (DC), there is still a stark contrast between those and the industrialized countries. Products are designed to be manufactured and consumed in a industrialized country context, with few designers designing for the production and marketing of a DC context. Focused in the Angolan context, this thesis proposal aims to clarify the designer's work assumptions from the point of view of a developing country. Understand its constraints that may be economic, technological, material, human and cultural, as well as local resources available, natural and human. This work is focused on the Aida Community - located in the province of Namibe, In the neighborhood of the city of Moçâmedes - as a case study to understand their needs, technological and economic constraints, and cultural and natural resources. It is intended, with this thesis, enable the starting point to understand the requirements of a project design work base in a DC context, specifically the region of Namibe, Southwest of Angola.
