Abstract(s)
Looking towards a strategy of revitalization of the parish of Marvila, in the city of Lisbon, the present investigation intends to study the theme Constructive Rationality, of the Lisbon Triennale Millennium BCP Universities Award Competition, of the 5th edition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale program. Through a theoretical basis, which is related to the program of the contest, the proposal is intended to create a natural beauty shape, with the projection of a rational solution, adjusted to the topography of the site, in order to darn the urban network. Due to the de-characterization of the place to intervene, that emerged from its industrial past and consequent de-industrialization, the diversification of the public space is idealized, in order to transform the site, a forgotten and abandoned urban void, into a place, a "habitable" space and experienced by all. Inviting to contemplate the landscape, anchored to the ruins of an old palace at the highest point of the terrain, the Communitarian and Interpretive Center of Marvila appears, which, taking an approach of transformation of the territory, establishes a sociocultural program, covering various scales and relations with the site and pre-existences. The architectural object of an apparently closed image seeks to establish contemporaneity, respecting the identity of the eastern past, which marked this area of the city, and is refuted in the exterior / interior relation, with a distinctive atmosphere based on the emptiness and the construction materiality. The proposal includes several appropriations of spaces, creating a metadiscourse in the narrative of the intervention, addressing its future users, in an inviting way to inhabit contemporary urban public space.
