Abstract(s)
With this essay we aim to contribute for the legitimacy of the children’s literature that is still seen as minor comparatively to literature for adults. This essay analyzes three books of children’s literature written by three great book authors for adults: Aquilino Ribeiro, Agustina Bessa-Luís and José Saramago. Romance da Raposa, Dentes de Rato and A Maior Flor do Mundo had been the selected books and based on them we developed a contrastive study of literary categories: we analysed these narratives looking for analogies and differences between them and the books written for adults by each one of these writers. We verify that these authors, possessors of exceptional capacities of writing and whose books for adults are considered complex by many readers, had created, following their personal style, high quality books for children, respecting the specific characteristics of the young readers.
