O ensino da disciplina de Fisiologia não é igual em todo mundo, mas a sua complexidade e dificuldade são comumente constatadas pelos alunos, os quais reconhecem a sua importância para as suas carreiras futuras.
O objetivo geral desta dissertação é analisar o ensino da Fisiologia na Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Mandume Ya Ndemufayo, o que contribui para perceber se as competências que devem ser desenvolvidas na disciplina a fim de cooperar para a formação do perfil do futuro médico, estão patentes nos alunos que em breve estarão a exercer a profissão.
Trata-se de um estudo observacional descritivo, em que foram analisados o plano curricular da disciplina, os resultados académicos dos alunos no período de 2011-2017. Foi realizado um teste de retenção de conhecimentos aos alunos do 6º ano no ano letivos de 2018.
Os resultados encontrados revelaram algumas fragilidades a nível do plano curricular da disciplina. Verificou-se que há uma elevada percentagem de reprovação e, maioritariamente, os alunos que aprovam na disciplina têm notas entre 10 e 13 valores. Os alunos apresentaram uma perda de cerca de 93,2% do conhecimento obtido na disciplina de Fisiologia.
O contexto educativo da Faculdade de Medicina é recente e enfrenta grandes desafios a fim de dar resposta as necessidades da comunidade. É necessário que o ensino da Fisiologia na formação do médico geral esteja centrado no aluno, desenvolvendo-se num contexto educativo que promova a integração, e que haja uma transferência efetiva dos conhecimentos da disciplina à prática clínica, contribuindo para a formação de um profissional da saúde integral e com qualidade.
The teaching of the discipline of Physiology is not the same all over the world, but the students, who recognize its importance for their future careers, commonly mention its complexity and difficulty. The general objective of this dissertation is to analyze the teaching of Physiology in the Faculty of Medicine of the University Mandume Ya Ndemufayo. This contributes understanding if the competencies that must be developed in the discipline in order to cooperate to the formation of the profile of the future doctor, are patent in the students who will soon be practicing the profession. This is a descriptive observational study, in which the curricular plan of the subject was analyzed, the academic results of the students in the period 2011-2017. A test of retention of knowledge was carried out to the students of the 6th year in the academic year of 2018. The results found revealed some weaknesses in the curricular plan of the discipline. It was verified that there is a high percentage of disapproval and, in the majority, the students who approve in the discipline have scores between 10 and 13 values. The students presented a loss of about 93.2% of the knowledge obtained in the discipline of Physiology. The educational context of the Faculty of Medicine is recent and faces great challenges in order to meet the needs of the community. It is necessary that the teaching of Physiology in the formation of the general practitioner be centered on the student, developing in an educational context that promotes the integration, and that there is an effective transfer of the knowledge of the discipline to the clinical practice, contributing to the formation of a professional of the health and quality.
