Abstract(s)
An orthodoxy has been observed with regard to the evaluation processes of social projects, which is very much embodied by the construction of norms that structure the evaluation procedures. Nevertheless, the evaluation processes of social projects must seek to adapt to new challenges, particularly when working with specific audiences. Given this panorama, there is an urgent need to promote the recognition of the importance of a sensitive and effective assessment of changes in the beneficiaries of social projects. Thinking about this in light of having children as our target audience, we face challenges specific to this public. Based on this premise, this research aimed, in an exploratory approach, to evaluate the use of an unorthodox methodology - child drawing - as a tool to assess the knowledge acquired by children during the intervention of the socio-educational project. With the main objective of analyzing the applicability of the use of child drawing as an evaluation tool in socio-educational projects, this research was based on a case study of the project "menin@s - equality and nonviolence". The analysis was based on the contents contained in the drawings made by the children in two moments, before the socio-educational intervention and after the intervention. Finally, using content analysis and statistical analysis we found that some of the indicators showed statistical significance in the changes in the symbolic world of children in gender issues. The results obtained through exploratory research showed that the proportion of gender stereotypes in the pre-intervention sample is higher than the proportion of gender stereotypes in the post-intervention sample. Thus, demonstrating that children's drawing can represent a tool for social projects, particularly when the target audience is children. Although this is an instrument that still needs more robust scientific research, it has proven to be an expressive, engaging, versatile, flexible, accessible, easy and inexpensive technique. The application of child drawing in the process of project evaluation may enable a participatory evaluation, giving an active voice to the children beneficiaries of the projects.
