Abstract(s)
O presente estudo teve como objetivo geral verificar qual a influência da disciplina de Educação Física (EF) na média de curso do ensino secundário. Para tal, tendo como critério de seleção a contabilização ou não da classificação da disciplina de EF no apuramento da média final de curso, constituíram-se duas amostras, uma referente ao ano letivo 2013/2014 (n=825) e outra ao ano letivo 2014/2015 (n=812), num total de 1637 alunos, matriculados no 12º ano de escolaridade, em cursos científico-humanísticos, nos agrupamentos de escolas pertencentes ao distrito da Guarda. Recolheram-se as classificações internas finais (CIF) das diferentes disciplinas da matriz curricular, de forma a poder estabelecer comparações entre os dois anos letivos. Procurou-se, igualmente, perceber qual a influência da classificação da disciplina de EF na média de curso e identificar possíveis associações entre a classificação da disciplina de EF e a média das restantes disciplinas. Na análise e tratamento de dados recorreu-se ao programa Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), versão 22.0, nomeadamente aos testes não paramétricos U de Mann-Whitney, Wilcoxon e correlação de Spearman, com um nível de significância de 0,05.
Os resultados demonstraram que a classificação da disciplina de EF foi, para ambas as amostras, a mais elevada no conjunto das disciplinas da matriz curricular, sendo que no ano letivo 2013/2014 a mesma foi significativamente superior ao verificado no ano 2014/2015. Em ambos os anos letivos em estudo, a média de curso, quando calculada com a classificação de EF, foi significativamente superior à média de curso sem EF, exceto no caso dos sujeitos das amostras que apresentavam médias de curso mais elevadas. Foram ainda identificadas correlações significativas e positivas, apesar de fracas, entre a classificação da disciplina de EF e a média das restantes disciplinas da matriz curricular em ambas as amostras do estudo.
Com o presente estudo conclui-se que a classificação de EF tem, globalmente, uma influência positiva na média de curso. Verifica-se ainda que os alunos com classificações elevadas a EF tendem a apresentar, de igual forma, a média das restantes disciplinas da matriz curricular elevada.
This study aimed at verifying the influence of Physical Education (PE) in the Secondary School final mark average. To this end, having as selection criteria the inclusion or not of the PE mark in the calculation of the final mark average, two samples were used, one related to the school year 2013/2014 (n=825) and another to the school year 2014/2015 (n=812), in a total of 1637 students enrolled in the 12th grade, in scientific and humanistic courses in School Groupings in the District of Guarda. The final internal marks (FIM) of the different subjects of the curriculum were collected in order to make a comparison between the two academic years. At the same time, we sought to verify the influence of the PE mark in the Secondary School final mark average and identify possible associations between the PE mark and the average of the other disciplines. In the analysis and data processing, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), version 22.0, was used and the nonparametric tests Mann-Whitney U, Wilcoxon and Spearman correlation were performed with a 0.05 significance level. The results showed that the PE mark was, for both samples, the highest in all the subjects of the curriculum, and in the school year 2013/2014 it was significantly higher than in the school year 2014/2015. In both school years under study, the final mark average, when calculated with the inclusion of the PE mark was significantly higher than the average without the PE mark, except in the cases of the students that had higher final mark averages. Significant and positive correlations were also identified, although weak, between the PE mark and the average of the other subjects of the curriculum in both samples under study. With this study, it was concluded that the PE mark has, overall, a positive influence on the final mark average. It was also verified that students with high PE marks tend to have, equally, a high final mark average in the other subjects of the curriculum.
