Abstract(s)
Globalization is the generator engine of changes with progressive magnitude in the social, political and economic activities, making that events and decisions in a part of the globe have a direct impact in individuals in a completely different part of the world. The intensification of the interdependency relationship, that all Independent State is subjugated, creates an instability in their relationship’s core, bringing some uncertainties to the national defense and security. In this way, the States’ economic security become a central problem in the national security. Therefore, the present report will look for understanding through a conceptual analysis in what extent the Globalization and the current International Economic System affects the Sovereign and States’ Economic Security, and in its turn, their own National Security and Defense. Starting from antagonistic political perspectives that marked the development of the biggest globalization’s theories, serving as theoretical basis to explain the nationalisms’ emergence as a break point in the increasing of economic interdependence. Seeking to understand what the Portugal’s role in this new governance’s network is. For last but not least, look for in which way NDI contributes through the investigation for the National Security and Defense. Throughout the investigation it was emphasized the lack of national investigation in what concerns to National Economic Security as a core problem of Security and Defense. Consequently, there is a need for investigation to build a global strategy that is adapted to the new global challenges of power’s dissemination. The present report is result of a curricular internship of six months in NDI, which served as a scientific platform to reflection and further academic development in what concerns to International Security and Defense, having as an ultimate goal the Master’s in International Relations’ conclusion.
