Abstract(s)
A crescente
eficaz no domínio social.
Sociais.
empreendedores sociais.
Nowadays, expressions like Social Entrepreneurship, Third Sector, etc, start making presence in the discourse of politics not only developed countries but also those in the developing world. The increasing unemployment rate and the incapacity of governments to act local and engage the injustices and social problems make this “sector” and the concepts inherent to it become significantly more important, supporting the efforts to fight these two challenges. Dispite the fact that it starts being more visible on the international side the creation of laws and regulations that recognize these "new types" of organizations and encourages their formation, in the case of Portugal is still a long way to go in the creation of these laws and regulations. At the academical level, although there are several studies that demonstrate the importance of tthe third sector in the economy of a country - not only in creating social and financial wealth but also the creation of jobs - studies related to the conceptualization of the phenomenon are still quite new and different, which means that it is sometimes difficult to identify the causes behind the creation of these various organizations. Some authors suggest that one of the features common to social entrepreneurs is the involvement in activities of associations before their entry into the professional life. Therefore, such organizations play an important role in awareness and development of essential skills for effective action in the social field. Thus, it is intended with this exploratory and qualitative study and based on the case study of AIESEC, to understand the influence of youth organizations in promoting social entrepreneurship and developing social entrepreneurs. The research takes place on two dimensions: on one hand the activities of the association, particularly those that show a greater concern of a social nature, and on the other hand, the testimonies of former members of the Association, regarding their experience as members of it The results, expressed in the form of hypotheses, suggest an important role of the association in promoting social entrepreneurship, not only by the activities that develops, but also by the important contribution in the development of ethical and behavioral characteristics and skills in the field of leadership and management, essential in the formation of individuals which we define as social entrepreneurs.
