Nesta tese, realizada para a obtenção do título académico de Mestre em Ciência Política pela UBI - Universidade da Beira Interior, vamos procurar, desconstruir e definir o conceito de cidadania de cara a não futilizar e dispersar a utilização do mesmo, procurando uma relação entre a sua qualidade/exercício e a apatia individual registada, por exemplo na falta de participação nos actos eleitorais dos últimos 40 anos (pós 25 de Abril) em democracia na Cova da Beira e Portugal.
Neste âmbito procuraremos estabelecer uma relação nexo/casualidade entre as desigualdades sociais na população e o seu desinteresse pela participação na coisa pública, estudando em simultâneo se essas mesmas desigualdades sociais, concorrem ou não para o enfraquecimento da democracia e, em caso afirmativo, como é que os Players regionais vêem esta situação.
