Abstract(s)
do emprego.
Small, medium and micro companies (SMEs) are currently recognized as one of the main tributaries to the Portuguese economy, an entrepreneurial safety net that increasingly contributes to the development of the regions and the consequent growth in employment. SMEs have shown a predominant role in the contribution of regional development, leading to a new study of theories of location of companies, in this case of SMEs. This research aims to discover what are the factors that influence small, medium and micro companies to be located in the Beira Interior region. Questioning the value proposition of the territory product, it is essential to understand what factors SMEs and their entrepreneurs are looking for in a region, for this we have put forward a conceptual model for analyzing such factors. The results show that the conceptual model does not exist as designed. It was then found that, despite the location factors being confirmed, their grouping is not found in the three constructs of the theoretical model: neoclassical, behavioral and institutional factors, but in five groups: psychological factors; index of development, innovation and encouragement for business creation; characteristics of the region; conjectures of the environment surrounding the SME; economic and social expansion of the region.
