Abstract(s)
O ato de bordar sempre constituiu uma expressão artística e estética nas sociedades em
que esteve inserido. Na atualidade, o destaque da produção de bordados tem recaído sobre seu
viés político-social. A presente investigação tem como objetivo principal analisar como esta técnica manual se encontra ressignificada, em diferentes aspectos, através de influências e abordagens contemporâneas. Neste âmbito considerou-se necessário utilizar uma análise interdisciplinar, que perpassou as ciências sociais, antropológicas, o design, a comunicação, a moda e a cultura. Foi realizado um apanhado territorial baseado nos tipos de bordados tradicionais que ainda hoje se encontram presentes no cenário português, com o objetivo de analisar os contextos
que influenciaram a resistência dessas técnicas.
Este trabalho é composto por uma pesquisa bibliográfica apresentada em capítulos que
também foram ilustrados com bordados produzidos pela autora. Esses bordados integram uma
coletânea composta por seis obras, constituídas a partir de processos e ferramentas projetuais.
No cenário atual, as práticas artesanais podem constituir uma valiosa alternativa à
forma de consumo instigada pela Revolução Industrial e massificada pelo modelo capitalista. A
produção de séries limitadas de artefatos singulares, inerente ao processo artesanal de produção, possui qualidades estruturalmente sustentáveis. Além disso, alguns nichos de consumidores estão a optar por objetos que possuam maiores significados e personalidade, processo no
qual a hegemonia dos produtos deixa aos poucos de fazer sentido.
The act of embroidering has always been an artistic and aesthetic expression in the societies in which it was inserted. Currently, the emphasis of embroidery production has fallen on its political-social bias. The main objective of this investigation is how this manual technique is re-signified, in different aspects, through contemporary influences and approaches. In this context, it was considered necessary to use an interdisciplinary analysis, which permeated the social and anthropological sciences, design, communication, fashion and culture. A territorial survey was carried out based on the types of tradicional embroidery that are still present in the Portuguese scenario, with an illustrated mapping. This work consists of a bibliographical research present in chapters that were also illustrated with embroideries produced by the autor. These embroideries are part of a collection made up of six works made from an artisanal design project. In the current scenario, craft practices can constitute a valuable alternative to the form of consumption instigated by the Industrial Revolution and massified by the capitalist model. The production of limited series of unique artifacts, inherent to the artisanal production process, has structurally sustainable qualities. In addiction, some consumer niches are opting for objects that have greater meanings and personality, a process in which the hegemony of products gradually ceases to make sense.
