Abstract(s)
do vestuário.
do vestuário.
In this work, it is intended to analyze if there is a concern of blind and vision handicapped persons respecting to colour in general and to garment colours in particular and if there are reasons to develop a textile object to allow a quick and easy way to identify garment colours for that group of individuals. Colour is something inseparable from the visual system as its perception is only made through the vision organs, but this does not mean that individuals having low vision or no vision at all do not have concerns respecting to colour and, in this particular case, to garment colours. Individuals deprived from perceiving colours through the vision organs often resort to external assistance in order to help them to combine colours when purchasing garments and later during wearing. Thus, this project intends to give a contribution to all individuals, having a higher or lower degree of visual acuity, to become autonomous when buying garments and accessories and during wearing. For this, a fabric label attached to the garment piece is developed, having the name of garment colour embossed in Braille alphabet and being permanently placed into the garment at an accessible location, to quickly enable the identification of garment colours. In the same label a symbol taken from a set created for this purpose could also be included to allow identification of garment colour by blind people that cannot understand Braille alphabet. To carry out this study several steps had been gone through: The first step comprised the development of an inquiry to realize if there is or not a concern respecting colour by vision handicapped and/or low vision individuals and, in a second place, to understand if the textile product to be developed would be a simplifying way to identify garment colours by the inquired individuals. A second step aimed the analysis of resulting data gathered by the inquiry and the treatment of this data in order to help understanding the results. The objective of the third step was the design of a textile prototype, in the form of a label permanently attached to the garment, having adequate laundering and wearing fastness properties. The fourth and last step comprised prototype experimentation, being observed that the label is a good way for colour identification, since this allows identifying colours of garments to any vision handicapped person assuming they know Braille alphabet.
