Revisitar um clássico do pensamento educacional, como é a obra Democracia e Educação de John Dewey, consiste em ler de novo, com a distância que o tempo permite, para perceber até que ponto as ideias enunciadas no passado são, ainda hoje, capazes de interpelar e apontar caminhos à nossa ação educadora e, deste modo, celebrar o seu legado. Esta comemoração será feita percorrendo vários passos: o papel da educação como reconstrução social, o nexo entre democracia e educação e seu impacto na organização dos ambientes educativos, para finalmente convocar as potencialidades de resistência ao paradigma da educação neoliberal vigente.
Revisiting a cJassic text of educational thought, such as the work Democracy and Education by John Dewey, consists of reading it again, with the distance that time allows, in order to understand the extent to which the ideas enunciated in the past are, still today, capable of questioning and pointing out ways to our educative action and, thus, celebrate its legacy. This commemoration will take place through several steps: the role of education as social reconstruction, the nexus between democracy and education and its impact on the organization of educational environments, to finally summon the potentialities of resistance to the current neoliberal education paradigm.
