Abstract(s)
This M.Sc. Thesis presents a developed study concerning both probabilistic and statistic basis related to the Six Sigma management philosophy, justifying not only the introduction of the factor 1.5 as an equivalence between the number of defects per million opportunities in the normal distribution but also the definition of the various six sigma levels. As a direct application of this philosophy, it also describes the Six Sigma Business Scorecard model and is presented in detail the philosophy of Six Sigma Industrial Maintenance Scorecard, setting up a set of technical and economic key performance indicators to be used, as well as a new correction factor to be considered in the Scorecards. Finally, a practical application of Six Sigma Industrial Maintenance is made to determine the performance of the Maintenance Function concerning the time period between 2003 and 2007, for a plant of the automotive sector, as a part of a large American multinational group.
