Abstract(s)
A presente dissertação tem como objetivo a apresentação de uma proposta para um
concurso internacional INSPIRELI AWARDS, que consiste na criação de uma nova
embaixada da República Checa na capital da Etiópia, Addis Ababa.
Como complemento ao projeto, foi elaborada uma contextualização histórica da
capital etíope. Desde a sua formação em 1886, passando pelo grande aumento
populacional, os graves problemas sociais, económicos e habitacionais que resultaram
das várias influências europeias, para que se perceba o que levou a que a cidade tenha
a sua estrutura urbana atual.
Foi também realizada uma investigação sobre alguns acontecimentos históricos, as
tradições arquitetónicas da República Checa dentro do contexto europeu e do
património cultural e a sua relação diplomática com a Etiópia. O propósito é oferecer
um lugar que sirva de cartão de visita da cultura checa na Africa Subsariana.
A solução arquitetónica apresentada é composta por seis edifícios, que estão
projetados deforma a evitar perdas de calor e ganhos de forma passiva. Baseado numa
arquitetura vernacular, o objetivo é proporcionar um complexo energeticamente
eficiente cujo o seu funcionamento não exija elevados custos construtivos e de
manutenção, sempre respeitando os requisitos de segurança que um edifício
diplomático acarreta.
This dissertation aims to present a proposal for an international INSPIRELI AWARDS competition, which consists, the creation of a new embassy of the Czech Republic in the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. As a complement to the project, a historical contextualization of the Ethiopian capital was elaborated. Since 1886, through the great population increase, the serious social, economic and housing problems that resulted from the multiples European influences, so that one can understand what led to the city having its current urban structure. An investigation was also carried out on the Czech Republic's history, architectural traditions within the European context and cultural heritage and its diplomatic relationship with Ethiopia. The purpose is to offer a place that serves as a business card for Czech culture in sub-Saharan Africa. The architectural solution presented consists of six buildings, which are designed to avoid heat loss and passive gains. Based on vernacular architecture, the objective is to provide an energy efficient complex whose operation does not require high construction and maintenance costs, always respecting the security requirements that a diplomatic building entail.
