Abstract(s)
A Qualidade (ISO 9001), o Ambiente (ISO 14001) a Higiene e Segurança no Trabalho (OHSAS
18001), a Responsabilidade Social (SA8000) e Investigação, Desenvolvimento e Inovação (NP
The growing market internationalization and globalization is leading to an increasing level of demand and expectations of Customers and Society in general. The competition pressure pushes the organisations to a constant need of change and adaptation to meeting the market needs and therefore to assure competitiveness and their future survival. Quality (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001), Occupational Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001), Social Accountability (SA 8000) and Research, Development and Innovation (NP 4457) represent some of the main management challenges, being key areas for assuring the Organization’s growth and sustainable development. The Integrated Management Systems have been merging the Quality processes with the Environmental Management and/or Occupational Health and Safety ones, depending on the Organisation’s characteristics, activities and needs. The expansion of the systems integration to the Social Accountability and to the Innovation and Development processes has also been introduced as part of the Organisation’s strategy. The implementation of integrated systems allows the creation of synergies not only at the level of investments and return on investments, but also at the level of the systematization and formalization of the Organization’s work processes, contributing to a consolidated response to the expectations of all of their stakeholders, as well as to the legal requirements related to quality, environment and occupational safety and health. Thus, it ensures an effective control over the system application results, allowing a continuous improvement. The aim of this dissertation is to present the management systems and their integration, as well as the advantages of their implementation. Additionally, it intends to present a case study and, through its analysis, the added value for the Organisation resulting from the systems integration.
