Esta investigação analisa o impacto da cocriação e da customização na inovação de produtos e processos nas empresas portuguesas. A investigação analisa os desafios enfrentados pelas empresas na utilização do envolvimento dos consumidores para a inovação e demonstra o seu impacto no desempenho inovador, respondendo à seguinte questão de investigação: "Como é que a cocriação e a customização contribuem para o processo de inovação de produtos e processos nas empresas portuguesas? Para analisar as relações entre o envolvimento dos consumidores e o desempenho inovador recorreu-se ao Community Innovation Survey (CIS). Os dados do CIS foram utilizados para analisar a relação entre a cocriação e a customização, com base em resultados de 13 802 empresas. Constatou-se que as capacidades de inovação das empresas aumentam significativamente após a implementação da cocriação juntamente com a customização, embora a cocriação mostre um efeito mais forte. A investigação contribui para o conhecimento sobre o envolvimento dos consumidores na gestão da inovação e oferece estratégias concretas para as empresas que pretendem melhorar a sua colaboração com os consumidores neste âmbito.

The research investigates firms' challenges to using user involvement for innovation. It shows its impact on innovation performance, answering the following research question: "How do co-creation and customisation contribute to the process of product and process innovation in Portuguese companies?”. The Community Innovation Survey (CIS) was used to analyse the relationships between user involvement and innovation performance. Data from the Community Innovation Survey was used to analyse the connection between the cocreation and the customization, which includes results from 13,802 companies. In the innovation studied, firms' innovation capabilities increase significantly after implementing co-creation and customisation, although co-creation shows a more potent effect. The investigation advances knowledge about user involvement in innovation management and offers concrete strategies for companies that want to improve their innovation collaboration with users.
